KEVIN Reynolds Jnr is the highest-placed South Australian in the standings going into the Kapunda Rodeo on Saturday. (November 15).

It will be a hometown rodeo for Reynolds who is currently 12th in team roping heeler standings in the Australian Professional Rodeo Association.

He combined with Rod Thorp for second in team roping at last month’s Marrabel Rodeo in South Australia. He also competes in the steer wrestling and steer roping.

Victorian star Heath Chalmers, of Beverfod, was second in saddle bronc at Marrabel and is 10th in the standings.

South Australian rider David Stacey was third at Marrabel with Glen Kent and Leslie Stacey equal fourth.

Queensland rider Owen Lee won the bareback at Marrabel and is expected to again compete along with Tumbarumba (NSW) rider Ben Hall who was second.

Watch out for the Victorians could be the word in cowgirl ranks at Kapunda with the most successful cowgirl in APRA history Cherie O’Donoghue expected to compete this weekend.

Renee Pearson of Eudunda, SA is in the top-20 in APRA standings in breakaway roping and will be one of the South Australians expected to do well. She was second behind O’Donoghue in roping at Marrabel.
