QUEENSLAND pair David Worsfold and Owen Lee have split first in the bareback bronc ride at the Carrieton Rodeo in South Australia, one of seven on the Christmas Run in the Australian Professional Rodeo Association.
Worsfold from Wandoan and Lee from Toowoomba each scored 81 to boost their positions in APRA standings.
The third Queensland rough stock rider to do well early on the Christmas Run was Roy Dunn, of Proserpine, who won the bull ride at Myrtleford in Victoria with a score of 85 from Upper Horton (NSW) rider Jackson Gill on 78 and Victorian star Toby Collins on 75. Dunn on the Golden Spurs for most successful cowboy at Myrtleford.
Jill Lyons (Gracemere) was fourth in the barrel race, Stuart McGuire Spalding (Taroom) fourth in the rope and tie and Worsfold fourth in bareback bronc riding at Myrtleford.
In team roping, Rockhampton (Qld) pair Cameron Bell and Cameron Milner were third in 14.2 seconds.
Table Top (NSW) rider Stephanie Gard won the barrel racing and breakaway roping double to win the Silver Spurs for cowgirls at Myrtleford.
Emerald rider Tenielle Middleton won the breakaway roping at Carrieton in South Australia with a time of 3.05 seconds.
In team roping at Carrieton, Hughenden rider Clancy Middleton was first and fourth with different partners, he combined with Emerald rider Brody Moss to win and then finished fourth with Victorian star Aaron Bookluck.
