ONE of the few cowboys to compete in timed and rough stock events in the Australian Professional Rodeo Association will be one of the favourites in the Peterborough Rodeo in South Australia on Saturday.

Tom Willoughby of Alice Springs has rodeod out of both South Australia and the Northern Territory in the past decade and been a regular at National Finals Rodeos.

He is the favourite in the bull ride at Peterborough but will face tough opposition from reigning Australian champion Fred Osman in bareback.

Osman already has one bareback win in South Australia this year and has moved up to 20th on the APRA standings.

Willoughby is in a strong field in steer wrestling, including APRA standings leader Lee Kimber from Lockington in Victoria and South Australian pair Daniel Pearson and Kevin Reynolds jnr.

In team roping, Willoughby is one of 32 nominations including Kimber, Pearson and Reynolds.
