EMMA Deicke has been named Miss Rodeo Australia for 2017.
The announcement was made this Saturday evening at the Rodeo Heritage Centre in Warwick, with 2016 Queen Katy Scott, from Cloncurry, handing over her crown.
Miss Rodeo Milmerran Tamara Evans was named as runner-up.
Miss Deicke represented Bowen River in North Queensland and said she was excited to give her final speech as part of judging tonight.
"I'm ready to get this last speech done and dusted," she said.
"I've grown up and still live on a cattle property and doing rodeo and drafting since I was young so I think I am well prepared and I'm so excited to have this experience.
"I think I did well to stay calm during the public speaking section and I was really chuffed with the pony I got for horsemanship, it was a dream to ride.
"I think (without promoting rodeo) people would lose a lot of their love for the sport, and it's such a great family sport and important part of Australian history.
"If chosen I'll definitely do Australia proud, and I'll be headed straight to Wagga Wagga next weekend for my first rodeo (as Miss Rodeo Australia)."
