The Australian Professional Rodeo Association (APRA) is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and committed members to serve on the APRA Judges Committee.

The APRA Judges Committee exists to support the highest standards of officiating within Australian rodeo through education, consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement. The Committee will provide recommendations and advice to the APRA Board on matters relating to judging, officiating standards, education, recruitment, and rule interpretation.

Judges Committee Composition
The APRA Board is seeking applications for the following positions:
• Three (3) Judge Representatives
• One (1) Stock Contractor Representative
• One (1) General Member Representative
• The Committee Chairperson will be appointed from members of the Board

Role of the Committee
The APRA Judges Committee will undertake responsibilities including:
• Reviewing and recommending updates to APRA judging policies and procedures.
• Supporting the development and delivery of Judge education and training programs.
• Assisting with the recruitment, mentoring, and retention of Judges.
• Contributing to the review and interpretation of APRA competition rules.
• Providing recommendations to the APRA Board on judging and officiating matters.
• Promoting consistency, professionalism, integrity, and accountability in rodeo officiating.
• Supporting initiatives that enhance competitor, livestock, and event safety.

Eligibility
Applicants must:
• Be a current APRA member in good standing.
• Have demonstrated involvement within the rodeo industry.
• Be willing to actively participate in committee meetings and projects.
• Declare any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest.

Desired Skills and Experience
Applications are encouraged from members who possess:
• A sound understanding of APRA rules and regulations.
• Experience as a Judge, Competitor, Stock Contractor, Committee Member, or Rodeo Official.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
• A commitment to fairness, consistency, and professionalism.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a committee environment.

Term of Appointment
Committee members will be appointed by the APRA Board for a term determined by the Board and subject to ongoing participation and compliance with APRA policies and requirements.
