WARWICK RODEO

THE two Shanes from Central Queensland will go head-to-head for the all around cowboy lead in Australian Professional Rodeo Association standings in the Warwick Rodeo this weekend. (October 24/27)

Shane Iker, of Alton Downs, currently leads the standings from Shane Kenny, of Emerald.

Iker won the all around title in the APRA in 2007-2008 and is the current pro tour leader.

Kenny is the defending titleholder after winning at the Gold Coast in June, his 14th victory in the all around. He is also the rope and tie standings leader.

Victorian star Gavin Walker, of Benalla, is third in all around standings and Clancy Middleton, of Emerald, fourth.

All four will compete in a field of 44 in the rope and tie, 39 in steer wrestling and 116 riders in team roping.

Emerald rider Kacey Kenny narrowly leads steer wrestling standings from Walker and Iker and has nominated for Warwick.

All around cowgirl standings leader Jorja Watkins, of Alton Downs, will compete at Warwick. She is one of three Central Queensland riders in the top 15 in APRA standings.

Leanne Kenny is 11th and Tenielle Middleton 14th

The Warwick Rodeo has attracted more than 500 nominations, a number which puts it on a par with Mt Isa.

Warwick and Mt Isa are the two richest rodeos in the APRA in a sport where standings and National Finals Rodeo spots are determined by prize money alone.
