BOGGARBRI COWBOY CODY ANGLAND
BOGGABRI cowboy Cody Angland has started the New Year in outstanding fashion
with an equal first in the saddle bronc ride at the Tumbarumba Rodeo in New
South Wales.
Formerly from Wantabadgery near Wagga Wagga, Cody has enjoyed success in
the saddle bronc and bareback bronc rides in both North America and
Australia.
The New Year's Rodeo success at Tumbarumba is good news for Cody as he
approaches the APRA National Finals Rodeo at Caboolture in Queensland on May
1-2.
He scored 73 at Tumbarumba to split first in the saddle bronc with
Victorian rider Lee Bowker.
Cody started the APRA Christmas Run with success at Myrtleford in Victoria
where he split first in the saddle bronc ride with Bowker and South
Australian cowboy Glen Kent.
In a sport where most rough stock riders specialise in one event, Cody is
just as likely to win the saddle bronc and bareback at any rodeo.
His brother Rhys Angland has won both saddle bronc and bull ride titles in
the same year in the APRA and will be one of the riders to watch at the
finals.
One cowgirl making a charge for a barrel racing pro tour title is Nichole
Fitzpatrick, of Willow Tree, who won on New Year's Day at Tumbarumba and is
challenging leader Wendy Caban, of Moree, and Queensland star PJ Hanrahan
for the standings lead and pro tour title.
The next APRA rodeo in New South Wales will be at Wagga Wagga on February 15
at the Equex Centre. John P Gill, of The Rock, is contractor for the rough
event stock.
