SHANE Iker consolidated second place in Australian Professional Rodeo Association all around standings with three placings at the Bundaberg Rodeo in late November.
He won the steer wrestling, finished second in the rope and tie and fourth in team roping in combination with Brody Moss from Emerald.
Iker hails from Alton Downs and will need to be a regular winner in the final five months of the season if he is going to catch runaway all around standings leader Shane Kenny, of Emerald.
Kenny was third in the rope and tie at Bundaberg, an event in which he leads the standings.
Both Kenny and Iker are assured of qualification for the National Finals Rodeo next year.
Kenny and Iker are the only two cowboys currently on the circuit to win multiple all around titles in the APRA.
Iker has won two of the past six and Kenny was victorious in 2013, his 14th all around title, a record in the association.
The top rider in cowgirl events at Bundaberg was Mt Tarampa cowgirl Cheyenne Whitwell who is making a strong charge up the leader board in all around standings.
Whitwell won the breakaway roping and was second in the barrel race behind Jane Fay from Warra.
After success at the Warwick Rodeo on the last weekend in October, she moved to fifth in the all around and her success at Bundaberg puts her closer to leader Wendy Caban, of Moree.
Caban was second at Bundaberg in breakaway roping one spot in front of her sister-in-law Leanne Caban, of Emerald, who finished third.
In rough stock events at Bundaberg, Biloela rider Jason Crawford was first in saddle bronc, Blackwater star Troy Mara won the bull ride and Wandoan cowboy Dave Worsfold was victorious in the bareback bronc ride.
Only two cowboys rode time in two bull rides at Bundaberg on stock from the Brian King string. Gill Brothers from Upper Horton in New South Wales provided the horses and Destiny Cattle Company from Emerald contracted the timed event stock.
All roads will then lead to the southern states in late December and early January with seven Christmas Run rodeos in Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales starting Boxing Day at Myrtleford in Victoria.
