THREE FAVOURITES FOR TASMANIAN RODEO

LUKE Hamilton, Bradley Franklin (Bracknell TAS) and Danielle Marshall (Ulverstone TAS) are the favourites as Australian Professional Rodeo Association competitors move to Ross in Tasmania for a rodeo on Saturday. (February 14)

There are 80 nominations for the rodeo in which Luke Hamilton, of Stowport, is favourite to win the most money.

On nationwide standings, Hamilton is 15th in all around standings in the APRA with a best of 10th in the rope and tie. He is 14th in steer wrestling and 16th in the bull ride.

He will need to do well in his home state and then win money in some mainland rodeos to secure a top-15 spot in his events at the Warwick Australian Championship Rodeo on October 22-25.

In a change to the national finals format, the APRA finals will move to Warwick, one of the two biggest rodeos on the APRA circuit.

In the bull ride, Bradley Franklin is 19th in APRA standings and will start favourite at Ross on Saturday.

There will be strong competition in the cowgirl events with Tasmanian star Danielle Marshall favourite in breakaway roping after moving into 17th place in the standings.

Ross Rodeo will be held on Saturday (February 14), 12pm at the Ross Recreational Grounds.
