THREE Queenslanders and two riders from Victoria are the favourites for the all around title buckle in the Australian Professional Rodeo Association.
The winner will be determined after the four rounds of the Warwick Rodeo Australian Championships on October 22-25 at the Warwick Showgrounds.
Going into the championships, Lockington (Victoria) rider Terry Evison is on top of the standings narrowly from Emerald (Qld) super star Shane Kenny.
Kenny has won 14 all around titles in the APRA and only a game punter would bet against him this year.
He goes into the championships on top of the rope and tie standings, third in team roping and 11th in steer wrestling.
His standings this year almost reflect his title wins, Kenny has 12 rope and tie titles to his credit, two in team roping and three in steer wrestling.
Clancy Middleton from Hughenden is third in the all around standings and aiming to win his first open title after plenty of close finishes.
APRA executive chairman Lee Kimber from Lockington in Victoria is fourth in the standings and the leader in steer wrestling, an event where he could rightly claim favouritism. He is originally from Queensland.
Shane Iker from Alton Downs in Queensland has won two all around titles in the APRA and will again be a strong chance for titles.
The only other past all around champion competing in Warwick will be Ebenezer (Qld) rider Mark Knox who qualified eighth in rope and tie but won’t be able to compete for the all around title as he has only qualified for one event in Warwick on October 22-25.
APRA Program: October 21 Hobart Show Bulls and Barrels (Tas); October 22-25 Warwick Rodeo Australian Championships (Qld)..
