LAST year Larry Barron made a New Year's resolution to give the kids of Rockhampton something to do when they see 2015 come to an end.

He wanted to celebrate another year with his family and see his six children enjoy the last few hours of December 31, so he decided to organise his own New Year's Eve party on his 160-acre property known as Lazy Acres.

Larry said he was hoping the event, LA Rumble, would become an annual New Year's Eve party destination.

"My wife and I thought about the idea about 12 months ago then we formed a committee of organisers and everything just kind of came together throughout the year," he said.

"We have a big family with six children and we just felt as though there wasn't really anything on New Year's Eve for the kids so we decided to solve that problem ourselves.

"We have a rodeo, jumping castles and rides for the kids, live entertainment by local bands including a special performance by X Factor's Caitlyn Shadbolt and Aussie freestyle motocross rider Brodie Carmichael who'll be doing daily shows so there's going to be something here for everyone.

"We also have free buses running on the day from noon and camping is available if people wish to stay the night."

This may be the first New Year's Eve event for the Barrons but it's already proved to be a success with a record-breaking number of rodeo nominations.

Larry said the number of entries he'd received was mind-blowing and indicated a big night ahead.

"We have rodeo stock coming from NSW, one of their bulls called Eye Candy was Bucking Bull of the Year so it will be good to see him," he said.

"We've got 34 steer wrestlers, 19 barrel racers and a whole heap of other entries so far so these are record numbers for the rodeo.

"There's also $30,000 prize money up for grabs during the event."
