Rodeo on at Wagga Wagga
WAGGA Wagga bull rider Sean Lynch has the chance to win at home when an Australian Professional Rodeo Association rodeo is held on Saturday. (January 30).
The Wagga Wagga Rodeo starts at 5pm at the Equex Arena at Wagga Wagga.
Lynch has developed his skills in the past three years to become one of the best bull riders in the nation.
He started this season’s Christmas Run in the APRA with victory at the Myrtleford Rodeo in Victoria.
Lynch scored 90 at Myrtleford, one of the best scores of the season.
While Lynch is yet to win an APRA open title, plenty of APRA titles have been won by Wagga Wagga riders down the years, especially the Schiller sisters Tania and Vicki, who have 17 APRA titles between them.
Vicki has four all around and four barrel racing title buckles to her credit while Tania has three all around and six barrel racing titles, the most around the barrels in the APRA.
Riders from Southern New South Wales and further afield will be out in force at Wagga Wagga in quest of prize money in the battle for top-15 spots in the APRA.
The top-15 in each of the championship events to April 30 will qualify for this year’s Australian championships.
Riders receive points for prize money earnt in the season which boost their chance of winning a title at the championships.
John P. Gill from The Rock has some of the best bucking stock in the nation so the riders will have their work cut out against his stock in the saddle bronc, bull ride and bareback bronc ride on Saturday.
Fans have the added attraction of being able to watch the action in both open and second-division bull rides.
