PENGUIN cowboy Ty King will compete in six events at the Gowrie Park Rodeo on Saturday. (March 11)
The rodeo starts from 4:30pm held at 1415 Claude Rd. Tickets on sale at the gate.
Mick Wyllie, Brian Fish and Luke Hamilton are the stock contractors for a rodeo which has attracted 138 nominations.
King has nominated in Open and 2nd Division Saddle Bronc, Rope and Tie, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping and 2nd Division Bareback, one of only a handful of riders in the Australian Professional Rodeo Association who compete in six events at the one rodeo.
Adam Clark, of Penguin, will be one to watch in the Bareback Bronc Ride where he is second in Rookie Standings in the APRA.
Danielle Marshall from Natone won round 3 of the National Finals in Breakaway Roping last year in Warwick (Qld) and will start favourite in the roping.
Many of the competitors will be aiming for placings so as to move into the top 15 in APRA standings which will give them automatic qualification for this year’s National Finals on the last weekend in October in Warwick.
There are plenty of future rodeo stars in Tasmania with 24 nominations for the Junior Barrel Race.
