TOOMA (NSW) rider Brad Pierce will be one of the favourites for rodeos at Finley in New South Wales this week.
Pierce showed he is in form with a win at the Myrtleford Golden Spurs Rodeo in north-east Victoria on Boxing Day.
He scored 78 points to win the saddle bronc from Cooper Thatcher, of Gundagai in New South Wales, who scored 75.
Cody Tyrrell, of Tongala, Victoria, won the bareback bronc ride at Myrtleford with 81 points from Tumbarumba (NSW) cowboy Ben Hall on 76.
One of the major winners at Myrtleford was Emerald (Qld) cowboy Shane Kenny, the most prolific title winner in APRA history.
Kenny was first in the rope and tie in 4.85 seconds and combined with Yass (NSW) cowboy Clay Bush to win the team roping in 6.6 seconds.
Victorian contractor Garry McPhee will contract the bucking stock for the Finley Rodeo on Friday (January 5) at the Finley Sporting Complex.
The final APRA rodeo for the week and the last of the Christmas Run will be at the K Ranch Arena at Mt Hunter on Saturday. (January 6).
The first APRA action in New South Wales this week will be the Sweetwater Timed Events Rodeo on Tullakool on Wednesday, (January 3)
