Rodeo returns to the West Coast of South Australia
After 32 years the sport of Rodeo will again be showcased on the West Coast at Streaky Bay with the inaugural 'Rodeo By The Sea' running on November 23rd this year.
'The Streaky Bay Tourist Promotions' led by Lyn Finch and 'The Streaky Bay Racing Club' will run a full APRA affiliated rodeo program at the racecourse with 8 open events, 3 novice, 3 junior and 2 local events included. The rodeo will run for an action packed 6 hours and then entertainment for all to see out the night.
Riders from all over Australia including the best of our SA competitors will compete for over $14,000 prize money.
The rodeo stock will be supplied by Noel Fraser from Wilmington who has owned and continues to have some of Australia's best animal athletes.
Streaky Bay is an extremely hospitable and tranquil sea side town on the Great Australian Bight 6 hours from Adelaide that leaves a lasting impression once you have visited.
The area boasts an abundant fishing industry with many tourism opportunities to enjoy. There is a variety of suitable accommodation and a caravan park in the town in which to stay and enjoy the whole weekend.
Excitement is building on the West Coast for this event as many locals have very fond memories of rodeos run decades ago and love the sport and what benefits it can bring to a small community.
The Streaky Bay committee are striving to put on a very successful event to showcase the sport of rodeo and to ensure that everyone who attends from far and wide thoroughly enjoys it too.
