RECORD SETTING YEAR

Do you know what it takes to set a new single season earnings record in the barrel racing within the Australian Professional Rodeo Association?  Firstly, a stellar horse that has overcome all odds and more so a cowgirl that compliments all her horse’s strengths and has more passion for the sport of rodeo itself than anyone else. Leanne Caban set the rodeo world on fire during the 2022 season to not only take home the Pro tour All Round Cowgirl, Pro tour Barrel racing title, #1 back number based off season earnings but also clutched her first Australian Barrel racing championship before even round 1 of the National Finals Rodeo commenced as she had that much of a lead from money won during the season. Caban claimed the All Round Cowgirl title with ease thanks in part to her seventeen individual rodeo wins in the barrel racing. Caban is also no slouch when it comes to breakaway roping which she proves time and time again qualifying to the National Finals Rodeo in both her respected events.  Caban’s career earnings are well over $185,000 and still set to continue to grow, just in the 2022 season alone she accumulated just shy of $50,000. This is her third All Round Cowgirl title.

As for the #2 back number based off of amount of money won during the season coming into the National Finals Rodeo, it belonged to no other than Campbell Hodson. Campbell also continues to watch his career earnings of well over $239,000 skyrocket after another sensational year of rodeoing. Campbell clutched his 4th All Round Cowboy title after winning the Pro Tour All Round for 2022 also. As Hodson sets out to try rewrite Shane Kenny’s historic record of 15 All Round Cowboy titles, at just 25 years of age the sky is really the limit for the young talent. In the 2022 season alone he dominated the field of competitors placing 34 times in his three respected events being the Team Roping, Steer Wrestling and Rope and Tie alongside with some big wins.
We look forward to what Leanne and Campbell have in store for us in 2023. As they try to remain the reigning champions, no doubt they will have many hungry competitors chasing them down.
