RAIN,
Rain, “Hale “or Shine, you will find Toby Hale at the top of his game this season. Last season, we saw Leanne Caban set a record for most amount of money won in a single season in the Barrel Racing and this year we are set to see Toby Hale accomplish that in the Bull Riding. Toby Hale not only is qualifying for his first NFR in the Bull Riding but is leading the Pro Tour race by over $14,000. In previous years, the money won in this event has never exceeded the $25,000 mark at the end of the season let alone totalling $31,000 with another 4 months of the season left, that is a feat on its own! This is also thanks in part to the committees who continue to put up outstanding amounts of posted prize money.
We are often used to seeing Toby at the timed event end of the arena in recent years, this year he leads the Rookie of the Year, Rookie Bull Riding, Rookie Rope and Tie, Rookie Heeling, Heeling, Bull Riding and All-Round Cowboy. Toby is a past Junior Steer Riding Champion and now has his sights set on the Bull Riding Gold Buckle. He will head to Nebo this weekend with the target on his back as the one to beat. Toby states that heading into big rodeos like Nebo that he is mainly focused on getting as close to perfect as possible in the preparation side of things whilst staying in his winning frame of mind. Toby is inspired by seeing his hard work and dedication pay off and accredits much of his success to the effort he puts in behind the scenes.
Toby matched up against Ultimate Destination out of the Peter Wallace bucking string will have the crowd hanging onto the edge of their seats come Saturday afternoon. Nebo having $10,000 worth of posted prize money allocated to the Bull Ride alone has drawn quiet a few competitors out of the woodwork and is set to be one heck of a knife fight for the first-place cheque.
Nebo Rodeo should be commended on their hospitality and taking such good care of their competitors prize money wise. Make sure you have a front row seat in what is going to be a packed-out crowd when the bulls roll up in the chute and Toby Hale slides his hand into his rope onboard Ultimate Destination.
