AFTER two months with most of the action in the southern States, Queensland will host six rodeos in the next six weeks.
The first rodeo will be the Millmerran Show Rodeo on the Darling Downs on February 27 and then all roads will lead to the Comet Benefit Rodeo on March 19.
For the first time in recent years, there will be major rodeo action at two Queensland centres on Good Friday.
The traditional Friday night bull ride will be held at Bassett Park, Roma, but there will also be action on the day for timed event competitors at the Destiny Downs Good Friday Fiesta at Destiny Downs on the Capricorn Highway at Emerald.
There will be team roping, rope and tie, steer wrestling and ladies barrel racing and breakaway roping at Destiny Downs.
There will be even more action in Queensland at Easter with a full championship points rodeo with all eight events at the Emerald Easter Sunflower Festival on Easter Saturday and then all roads will lead south on the Sunday for a full championship points rodeo at Bassett Park, Roma.
Central Queensland riders are certain to be prominent at the six Queensland rodeos in the next six weeks, including APRA all around standings leader Errol Frain from Yeppoon.
One to watch will be rope and tie leader, Emerald star Shane Kenny, who will have a busy Easter competing in each of the rodeos and doing a lot of the organisation for the fiesta at Destiny Downs, a property he and wife Leanne own.
Timed event cattle from Destiny Downs Cattle Company will be used at the two events at Emerald along with rough stock organised by Gill Brothers from Upper Horton in New South Wales.
