Rodeo this weekend Gargett, Queensland
Some of the top rodeo competitors from Queensland and New South Wales will head to Gargett for this weekend’s Australian Professional Rodeo Association this Saturday 21st April 2018.
Wandoan QLD competitor Cameron Webster current leader in the Saddle Bronc standings will certainly be one to watch. Five of the top 15 Saddle Bronc riders in the current standings will compete at Garget. Tim Hammond Rosewood NSW second, Greg Hamilton Mitchell Qld fifth, Jack McKenzie Blackwater QLD sixth, Cody Angland Sprinsure QLD thirteenth. All of which have an excellent chance and all having success over the Easter rodeos in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
Troy Berry from Biloela QLD currently sitting fourth in the Bull Riding standings will also compete this weekend, Troy trailing current leader Jason O’Hearn by $3,000, will be looking to visit the pay window. Jason from Rothbury NSW won’t be making the trip north.
Ben Hall from North Albury NSW and Gracemere cowboy Brodie Adams will compete in the Bareback after they both had recent luck during the southern Easter Run. Ben leading the Bareback standings and currently $10,000 ahead. Brodie sitting tenth.
Miss Rodeo Australia 2018 Dakota Michaelis will be competing in the Barrel Race to gain points towards her Rookie year as well as making appearances to sign autographs. Dakota recently moving from South Australia to Mount Charlton QLD to do the northern run before the end of the season on 30 September. Dakota currently leading the Rookie Barrel Race standings and sitting third in the Breakaway Roping. Dakota qualified in the Barrel Race at last year’s Warwick Rodeo APRA National Finals and will be hoping to make the trip again this year.
Action at Gargett will start at 6:30pm Saturday 21st April.
Although Gargett Rodeo does not have the full eight open events, it still qualifies for National Finals points except for the All Around category.
