Trade outs will open for one day only on Tuesday 1st August via APRA office. No trades outside of this day will be accepted.

 
 

NOTES:

3. Entries for Mount Isa Rodeo are online only via www.isarodeo.com.au. They are open strictly from 14 July - 23 July 2023. Any queries with online entries please refer to the Mount Isa Rodeo on 0434107797.

4. Championship Points Rodeo

5. Team Roping and Over 55s Team Roping is one run per person (team entry). Each person must enter separately, nominate whether they are heading or heeling and include their partner's name and membership number.

6. Sections of the Junior, 2nd division events and all timed events will commence on Thursday morning.

7. Open bull ride, bareback, and saddle bronc riding contests commence Friday afternoon, 11th August 2023.

8. Open Bareback - 1 round and final or 2 full rounds. 

9. Jnr Team Roping and Jnr Breakaway Roping – 1 round only

10. Junior Barrel Race, Junior Steer Ride & Junior Bull Ride - 1 round and a final.

11. All 2nd Division Events, Open Saddle Bronc Ride - 1 round and a final. 

12. Rope & Tie, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Ladies Breakaway Roping and Ladies Barrel Race – 1 Round and a final. Take half back to the final with a max of 20 competitors.

13. Open Bull Ride 2 full rounds and a final. 

14. The Committee reserves the right to limit entries in open rough stock events. 2nd division Bull Ride may be limited to 80 entries. Refer to website listing for further details. 

15. No glass bottles are permitted on the grounds.

16. If you are listed to participate in the Grand Entry and do not appear or are late, the committee reserves the right to cancel you from any further competition and/or impose a $100 fine.

17. Competitors MUST wear wristbands at all times. Only APRA Members will receive a Companion Band.  Day members will receive their competitor band only.

18. Over 40s Bull Ride – must be a member of the Over 40s Bull Riding Association. Enquiries to Larry Cooper 0407557514. Helmets are mandatory.

19. Local Station Buckjump & Mini Bulls – First 30 nominations - entries to the committee through the electronic portal. 

20. Buckles and sashes will be presented in the arena immediately following the Finals of each event.

21. All prize money will be paid by direct deposit into nominated bank accounts in the week following the rodeo.  

22. CAMPING CONDITIONS: Free Camping is for Open, Junior and Day Members competitors. Other family members travelling with competitors will be charged $10 per adult per a night and $5 per child per night (aged 7 and over) their family only and will be cross-referenced from the list of nominations for eligibility. No camping before Sunday 6th of August. Camping is free, however, there is no power available. This year, all those wishing to camp at Buchanan Park must register via isarodeo.com.au when nominating by July 24th July 2023. Appropriate site size will be determined by the size of the vehicle and the number of horses. All sites must be registered. If you do not register, you may not be guaranteed a spot. Everyone may be required to sign in via the QLD QR COVID Safe Check in App. 

23. All vehicles (including competitors) are to display an IRL Vehicle Pass on the driver’s side dash.

24. No visitor’s vehicles are permitted in competitor camping area.

25. Dogs are to be on a leash at all times. A minimum $150.00 on the spot fine will be issued if dogs are not secure - no exceptions.

26. A ‘No Barking’ rule applies.

27. Noise levels in the competitor camping area to be ceased by 10 pm each night.

28. No campfires permitted.

29. All plug-in electrical equipment that is used must have a certified test tag displayed on them.

30. There will be a separate area for spectator camping. See www.isarodeo.com.au for site booking details.

31. All horses in the camping area inside the race track must be placed in permanent stables between 7 pm to 8 am Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, and 11 am to 5 pm Thursday.

32. No horses to be in electric fences on the outside fence of the race track between 11 am and 5 pm on Thursday 10th August.

33. Competitors arriving on Thursday 10th August for the competition will have to park and unload their horses in the public car parking area behind the timed event box which will be closed to the public for that day.

34. Designated warm-up areas and times for competitors on Thursday 10th August will be posted at the Secretary’s Office or advised via email.

MT ISA 2023 EXTRA NOTES

ALL ROUND BONUS RULES (inc 2nd DIV and LOCAL)

 

$1500 bonus to All Around Cowboy and Cowgirl.

The competitor who wins the most money in 2 or more events will be the All Around. If no one wins money in 2 events, it goes to the competitor who wins the most money in 1 event but competes in 2 or more events.

 

Conditions apply: to be eligible for the All Around cash bonus, and competitors must complete a 20-minute autograph signing session in Fan Zone and participation in the Street Parade held on Wednesday 9th August 2022. Please make contact with Katy Scott for more information or see Mount Isa Secretary’s office on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday before the rodeo.

Local All Around - must live within a 500km radius of Mount Isa to qualify.

2nd Division All Around - same rules for the open would apply to the 2nd Division All Around.

OPEN AND 2ND DIVISION ROUGH STOCK

The top 10 qualify for the finals with a maximum of 12 contestants with splits. In the event where scores are tied which would make the number of qualifiers more than 12 then the lowest placed contestants will be drawn out of the finals.

MOUNT ISA ENTRIES

Permit members will be eligible to enter the Open Saddle Bronc Ride and Open Bareback Bronc Ride however as only a limited number of permit entries may be accepted you may be drawn out of the contest (all open members are exempt from being drawn out). The number of open members entries will determine the number of permit members entries accepted. Maximum entries are as follows: Bareback 30, Saddle Bronc 50, Bull Ride 50.  E.g. If there are 50 or more open members entered in the Saddle Bronc event, no permit members entries will be accepted in that event, likewise if there are 45 open entries, only 5 permit entries will be accepted. Any permit members wishing to enter the open rough stock events must nominate on the advertised entry dates and can find out if their entry was successful on (date to be advised). Permit entries will be selected by random draw and a number of reserves will also be identified. All permit entries will be accepted in the second division events but may be limited to 80.

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA FOR OPEN BULL RIDE

 May be limited to Open Members only, maximum entries 50. To be conducted over 2 rounds and a final. Current and former Australian Bull Riding and the current Golden Run Circuit Bull riding Champions will be exempt from being drawn out. 70% of the remaining entries will be those highest placed in the current season bull riding standings as of the 30h June 2022. 20% will be made up of the highest ranked contestants from the previous season Pro Tour Bull Riding Standings. 10% randomly drawn from remaining entries.

 




Penalties and Fines

22.1 Turnout fine of $50 if in performance or slack and you do not notify Central Entry Office or Rodeo Secretary.

22.2 Turnout fine of $10 if in performance and you do notify the Central Entry Office by 5pm the Thursday prior to the Rodeo.

22.3 Turnout in slack and notify the Central Entry Office before 5pm on the Thursday before the Rodeo. No fine.

22.4 All turnouts required to pay entry fees. all fees and fines to be paid prior to competitor being permitted to enter further rodeos.

22.5 Unfinancial Members or Members on the Suspended Members List cannot compete as a Day Members.

22.6 A competitor must have a medical certificate to cancel out of a Rodeo after the closing date for entries. A competitor who cancels on a medical certificate, cannot compete for ten (10) days from the date of the Rodeo from which he cancelled and must supply a medical release.

22.7 Competitors are only allowed 3 medicals and 3 visual turn outs in each Rodeo year.

22.8 When a competitor visually turns out or Medicals out of a Rodeo he only receives his added money back. Committee levy is retained by the committee and administration levy must be paid to head office.
